Bathurst, founded in 1815 is host to the V8 Supercars 1000 (Bathurst 1000) at Mt Panorama. You can even take a lap around the Mount Panorama Racing Circuit, just remember it is a public road and does have a speed limit! If you are into Fossils, minerals and dinosaurs, Bathurst has fossilised dinosaur eggs and a display of three life-size dinosaurs including a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Mudgee holds a giant wine festival in September and the region comes alive with numerous cellar door events including live music, special lunches, and dinner. Mudgee district has over 40 wineries producing mostly Shiraz and Chardonnay.

Cowra has incredible Japanese Gardens that are particularly stunning in September during Cherry Blossom Season.

Dubbo located only 144 km from Orange is well known for its amazing Taronga Western Plains Zoo, an open range style zoo that covers 300 hectares. You can have a day visit or even overnight in the zoo.

Narromine (40 km west of Dubbo) has a rich aviation heritage. Visit the museum located at the historic Narromine Aerodrome Precinct, Australia’s gliding capital. Sailplanes soar silently above the charming rural town by the Macquarie River, in the Great Western Plains region of NSW.
