Within only one hours drive of Sydney discover a relatively untouched wilderness of water ways, bush and national parks. The Hawkesbury River is well known for its popular houseboat boat-hire businesses and excellent fishing. The calm waters of the river are abundant with bream, flathead and bass. Both Wollemi National Park and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park are popular with bushwalkers and picnickers.
Along the coast are fantastic surfing beaches, trendy beachside townships and luxury resorts. Spend a couple of days exploring this region or do day trips from Sydney. Don’t miss: the Australian Reptile Park, pelican feeding at Memorial Park, the Entrance, snorkelling the wreck of PS Maitland in Bouddi National Park.
