  • Back O’ Bourke Exhibition Centre & Jandra Paddleboat

The Back O’Bourke Exhibition Centre (Open Monday to Sunday 9am till 5pm), has recently been redeveloped as a world class facility nestled in a spectacular natural setting amongst the river red gums on the banks of the Darling River.

The Exhibition Centre brings to life the stories of the past and reveals the real Outback to those that visit. A modern gift shop and Café are part of the Experience, enjoy a coffee overlooking the Darling floodplain and ponder your journey.

Bourke is a wonderful community established in 1861 on the banks of the Darling River. Historically, the town was a vital link for agriculture in the west and larger cities to the east. Today the town welcomes all visitors with a smile and G’day.

Bourke and the surrounds have a multitude of activities for visitors, ranging from cruising the Darling river to watching the eagles soar at Mount Oxley. There are many places of interest to visit, Fred Hollow’s Grave (he is buried in Bourke!), the historic Cemetery (particularly the Afghan camel drivers shrines and mosque), the Bourke Wharf, historic Weir( first weir and lock to be built on the Darling), historic courthouse (still in use and is the most inland marine courthouse in Australia if not the world), and much, much more!

Our established township offers pubs and clubs, coffee & gift shops, chemist, motor repairs and supermarkets. We also boast a new hospital facility and established community health services.

As you get closer to Bourke tune to one of our local radio stations at 585 AM and 106.5 FM.
Begin your journey right here to the Back O’Bourke.

    Jandra Paddleboat

The PV Jandra is a replica paddle vessel built locally by the Mansell family in 2000. The Jandra is licensed to carry 100 passengers and offers 2 regular crusies per day along the Darling River.

The Jandra departs Kidman’s Camp daily at 9am and 3pm offering visitors 1 hour cruises and a chance to relive the old river days. For further information call the Back O’Bourke Exhibition Centre on (02) 6872 1321 or visit our website (see link above).
