This region of  Western Australia begins at Katanning and Kojonup, small towns at the southern extremity of the wheat belt. Kojonup has a fantastic Visitor Information Centre and the friendly, helpful staff can provide you with all the information you need when visiting this spectacular region of Western Australia.

The incredible natural beauty of rugged coastlines, coves and bays, rivers and dramatic mountain ranges make this region a popular holiday destination.  Unspoilt national parks of majestic karri and tingle forest mixed with ancient rock formations and abundant wildflowers make for great hiking and bushwalking.

This region was settled before Perth and has an excellent reputation for its produce and is now one of Australia’s largest wine growing regions with more than 30 wineries to visit. Denmark, just 414km south-east of Perth is an idyllically situated retreat on the Denmark River beside Wilson Inlet and is central to fantastic regional attractions like the wineries, scenic drives and lookouts. South Coast Properties (see listing) have a fantastic range of holiday accommodation for visitors to choose from in this region.

Albany (situated on the south coast of WA) is set against a backdrop of granite coastline and green seas. Tour the old whaling station, jump aboard a whaling boat and don’t miss the Brig Amity – a replica of the ship that brought Albany its first settler and convict cargo. The best way to take it all in is to follow the Amity Trail, a 30 minute self-guided walk that takes you past historical buildings of note ( see Albany Historical Society listing). Albany is also known for its natural attractions along the rugged coastline of Torndirrup National Park. Be sure to call into Mt Romance – The Sandalwood Factory, it is open everyday and offers FREE tours!

Take the time to visit West Cape Howe National Park, Mt Romance – The Sandalwood Factory, Albany Whale World, William Bay National Park, Porongurup and Stirling Range National Parks, Valley of the Giants and Tree Top Walk as well as Mount Barker and Middleton Beach.
