  • The Quinkan and Regional Cultural Centre is the first stop for all travellers to Laura.

Rock Art tours, accommodation and storage of caravans can be arranged through the Quinkan Centre in Laura.
The Quinkan & Regional Cultural Centre contains a World Class Interpretive Display. QRCC is owned and operated by the local town and region. It was established with the support of the Queensland Heritage Trails Network and many north Queensland organisation, business and individuals. Special Thanks to all those involved.
The Quinkan Centre showcases all aspects of Quinkan Country including, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heritage, and the natural environment. There is something of interest for everyone – from the keen fisherman to young families!

Guided tours can only be booked through the Centre, including guided tours to world famous Aboriginal rock art galleries such as Split Rock, Mushroom Rock & Giant Horse Gallery and most spectacularly THE QUINKAN GALLERIES. These tours are guided by the most experienced and the leading Indigenous guides in Cape York. Split Rock is a self-guided site, located 12 km south of Laura and is well set up with boardwalks, interpretive information, toilet and car park. An honesty fee of $5.00 is applied to cover basic maintenance costs at the site. This is payable at the Quinkan Centre, Laura or Lakeland Roadhouse, Lakeland. Currently, we are experiencing difficulty in receiving fees which may place access to the site in jeopardy.

By courtesy of the Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund, we were able to purchase our own Landcruiser 4WD vehicle to service our Rock Art Tours as well as the Cultural Centre in June 2010 and has been of enormous benefit to the operation of our tours and business.

We provide information on attractions, accommodation, travelling conditions within Quinkan Country and throughout the Cape York Peninsula.

The Cultural Centre also has a select range of regional Aboriginal arts and crafts and a variety of books, maps, souvenirs, Laura Dance Festival Shirts and postcards available for sale.

Please contact the Quinkan Centre for further information, tour bookings and general tourist information.
