  • Don’t miss this fantastic Festival – organised over five days with over 40 events.

    Named as one of the top ‘100 things to do in Australia before you die’ by the Australian Traveller Magazine!

    Home of Waltzing Matilda – Swaggies pop up everywhere during the Festival in Shop Windows, rooftops and yards.  Five days of humour and distinctly Aussie entertainment.

    The highlight event of the unique Outback Festival is the $5000 Quilton Australian Dunny Derby.  Teams need to nominate to secure their position in the Derby – only 20 temas race in the Derby.  The cultural highlight of the Derby will be the auction of dunny door Art by Gold Coast Artist peter J. Hill and other budding artists are welcome to enter.  there;s more fun with the World Crayfish Derby Race meeting hosted by the Royale Crustacean Racing Club.  This is Winton’s equivalent of the Melbourne Cup.

    Compete in the $3000 Outback Iron Man and Iron Woman events where entrants perform arduous tasks over five days of the Festival. There are many other events including: The $2000 Masters of the Outback, Broom Throwing, Wool Bale Rolling, Truck Pull, Bushman’s Egg Throwing, and the $2000 OUtback Whip Cracking Championships.

    Kid’s Festival includes – wobble board painting, meggsey cart races, whip cracking workshops, Teddy Bear picnic, music workshops, song, clowning an Outback Iron Kid event and much more………

    Sit back and listen to Bush Poets or renew old friendships at the Truckies Reunion.

    The Outback Music Spectacular will feature the best of Australia’s entertainers to perform during the five days of the Festival, there are also theatre perfomances, cabarets, roving entertainers, are, crats, food and wine markets.

    Outback Ballooning

    Get a bird’s eye view of the region with on a balloon ride.

    Visitors will be able to do everything from fossicking for opals at Opalton, going on local tours to the world’s only fossilized footprints at the famous Lark Quarry Dinosaur Trackways and Carisbrooke Station featuring gorges, escapmments and aboriginal paintings.  Discover the rare beauty of Bladensburg National Park, or watch a sunset from Rangelands Rifts.
