Pet-Friendly Camping

Dogs are welcome at Catninga — but they must be booked in prior to arrival, kept on leads at all times, and be clean and well-behaved to ensure a comfortable stay for everyone.

Local Knowledge & History

Catninga homestead was built in the late 1800s and even featured as a film set for the 1952 Australian movie The Kangaroo starring Maureen O’Hara and Chips Rafferty. Today, Heather and Brian, lifetime locals of the region, proudly run the property as a small working cattle and horse station while sharing its unique history and natural beauty with visitors.

Explore the Flinders Ranges

Catninga is perfectly located between the Southern and Northern Flinders Ranges - and only a 25-minute drive from Port Augusta, making it an ideal base for adventure. Heather and Brian are passionate about the land and its wildlife, and are always happy to share their insider knowledge to help you make the most of your stay.

Relax under the bright starry skies, take in the rugged landscapes, and enjoy a true outback escape at Catninga.
