About Morrison's Huon Pine Sawmill - Tasmania

Morrison’s Huon Pine Sawmill – A Heritage Experience in Strahan

Step back in time and discover the rich history of Tasmania’s timber industry at Morrison’s Huon Pine Sawmill. Established in the early 1940s, this family-run sawmill is now operated by Brendon and Kellie Morrison, representing the fourth generation of the Morrison family to continue this proud legacy.

A Unique Working Sawmill Experience

Located on the picturesque Strahan waterfront, Morrison’s Huon Pine Sawmill offers visitors a rare opportunity to witness a traditional break-down saw in action. This reciprocating saw, reminiscent of the convict era, is used to make rough cuts, slicing at six inches per minute. Daily demonstrations at 2:45 pm bring this heritage equipment to life, showcasing the techniques that shaped Tasmania’s timber industry.

Our shop (located inside our premises) offers Handcrafted Tasmanian Timber Treasures!
